Reducing: not making waste in the first place.

Many items bought, are simply not required. By thinking in advance, "do I really want that?" you can start to reduce the amount of things that are wasted.

Other goods are over-packaged; if you have the option, get goods that use less packaging.

Carrier bags are in fewer places now or have a small charge for; this is to try to reduce the number of bags, which end up in the bin once you have the goods out of them. Remember to re-use carrier bags, there are many now that can be used over-and-over again.

Throwing un-eaten food away is a waste of money and a waste of energy in the production, processing and delivery.
