Energy performance certificate
EPC
An EPC energy performance assessment is, a non-invasive survey, conducted on domestic and commercial buildings; the methods used for the asset rating are dependant on the type of property.
The purpose of the survey is to assess the energy consumption, resulting in an EPC giving areas for improvement and a quick glance asset rating.
Survey
During the survey, the inspector will look at various aspects of the property, to produce an estimate of the fuel needed to heat and light the premises.
The elements of the property in the survey vary for commercial and domestic premises. Commercial buildings will also include cooling systems and a more detailed inspection.
Assessor
The energy assessor issues the EPC report for the property using the information at the time of the survey.
If you wish to make improvements, it is better to do this before the survey. If you require the EPC sooner, and are looking to make improvements, let us know and we will make suitable arrangements.
After the assessment
Once the survey is complete, the surveyor will produce the certificate with some suggestions for improvements.
The categories will vary and depend on what measures are already in place. These are advisory, and will be dependant on the property owner.

Booking your survey
When you book your survey, please identify the type of property, and give as many details on the heating and lighting systems used.
Other useful details include the insulation in the walls and attic and build dates. Commercial premises will require more information and a floor plan will be useful because it will save time.
