Energy assessing
The links in the navigation bar are companies and organisations that are concerned with the training and accreditation of energy assessors.
Qualified energy assessor
To become a qualified energy assessor it is necessary to train in the requirements of an energy assessor. These requirements are set and called National Occupational Standards (NOS).
Organisations that are responsible for setting the exam criteria, base it on the NOS. This consists of practical hands on surveys on various building types. Then there is a written exam to cover the remaining parts.
Accreditation
Once the assessor has passed all parts of the exam, the assessor must join an accreditation scheme. The accreditation body is responsible for making sure that the assessor maintains their standards and continue professional development.
Continuing professional development (CPD)
Assessors keep up to date with the changing legislation and improvements made to the role of the energy assessor.
Many jobs now involve CPD and energy assessors are no different. By attending training courses and continually updating skills through research, energy assessors can remain up to date.
Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors
In addition to the above, there are also professional organisations such as the IDEA. As an independent organisation, the IDEA is able to offer support to energy assessors and home inspectors.
